Summary: Patients who viewed a video regarding the process and risks of a surgical procedure prior to surgery were more likely to retain that information than patients who received the information in a non-video format.

2. Effects of preparatory videotapes on self-efficacy beliefs and recovery from coronary bypass surgery. Ann Behav Med Winter, 1998
Summary: In a study of preoperative, male coronary bypass patients, those who viewed one of three videos regarding what to expect during postoperative recovery were significantly better prepared for the recovery period and were more likely to follow their rehabilitation program.
