Mark Friess
Chairman

Mark Friess has focused on the development and delivery of health information to patients and their families for the past 11 years. As the CEO and Co-founder of wired.MD for the past 5 years, he and the wired.MD team have focused on programs and services that benefit hospitals and clinics whose vision of patient education includes a comprehensive solution that benefits staff, patients, and their families. Mark has completed a National Institutes of Health grant research project focusing on the use of the Internet by health information consumers. He has participated in biomedical research for Abbott Labs and Baxter International. He studied medicine at the Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine and is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a minor in Business Management.

Ed Brightman

Ed is a veteran in the fields of corporate operations management, reengineering, strategy and negotiations. Ed has held several management positions in both established and emerging technology-based businesses. His 21 years of experience have included positions of Senior VP and Chief Operations Officer of Centerspan Communications Inc. (CSCC), VP of Operations of ThrustMaster, Inc. (TMSR), Operations Management of Toyota Motor Corporation, and Operations Manager of Output, Inc. Ed's academic background includes Seattle University and Marylhurst College.

Paul Kollar

Paul has more than 30 years of sales and marketing experience with semiconductor related products, most recently as Vice President of Sales for TriQuint Semiconductor. While there, Mr. Kollar helped the company build a successful business model targeting telecommunications marketplace. Prior to TriQuint, Mr.Kollar was Vice President of Sales for Lattice Semiconductor. He began his semiconductor career at Signetics Corporation where he was involved in the first Programmable Logic Devices (PLDs) and was part of the team that developed the 555 timer and first monolithic phase locked loop (in 1970).

John Friess

John is focused on the process of building the marketability and viability of idea and emerging stage companies. Before founding wired.MD, John was a Marketing Agent who helped with the launch of Kozmo.com for both the Portland and Los Angeles markets. Prior to this, he was the Public Relations and Marketing Manager of RFCC, Inc., a premiere special event-planning agency in Los Angeles; and developed a strategic marketing plan for West Moon Trading Company. A graduate of the University of Oregon, John received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing.
